The Truth About Digital Cameras: Megapixels Don't Matter

Here is another Megapixel Mythbuster that I found on digg.com. It makes perfect sense of the three nice cameras I have had (Fujifilm finepix 40i, Canon A80, Canon A630) I was just as happy with the quality of the finepix as I was the A80. While the 40i had a superior CCD (IMHO) the A80 had a better lens and more bells and whistles that I wanted (it was the bells and whistles that caused me to switch). I just got the A630 and while I love it the jury is still out.

CCD tutorial


I found this on dpreview. Its an excellent tutorial on CCD sizes. The sensor is 1/3 of the formula of picking the camera (Megapixel, sensor, lens). While the lens is the hardest to research (unless you are buying a high end SLR) the sensor size can be found on several good websites - including dpreview.
